“Celebrity” by Velinski is a pounding R n B track which takes the p**s out of the cult of celebrity that is currently dominating the media.
Whether you loathe reality shows, can’t get enough of them or wonder why everyone’s talking about them, Velinski have put the whole aspect of celebrity into perspective with a great song and cynical yet amusing lyrics.
The band’s songwriter, Andrew Williams explains…
“Reality tv shows are so popular that virtually anyone who is in them
attracts media attention. Is this because of the intense public fascination
with celebrities, or does the media create the public interest?
Then I thought – how does a celebrity feel about all of this? Then
I thought – does anybody care – to find out I’ll write a song about
one of them, and the public can make up their minds”
The band emphasis this is no spoof track. The music is original and the style is very current. They boast having one of the best new vocal talents in the country, in Cliffton Medford (ex-Boot Camp X-Factor) and the high technical skills of multi-instrumentalist \ producer Adam McEvoy.
Velinski are a new band clearly going places – perhaps creating their
own brand of celebrity for the music lovers of today.
