“Train” is the third single by Edinburgh based alternative rock band The Cathode Ray. It is to be released worldwide digitally on Stereogram Recordings on Monday 3rd October 2011. It will be available on iTunes, eMusic, Amazon and all other major download stores.

The Cathode Ray started life in 2006, initially as a song-writing collaboration between singer/songwriter Jeremy Thoms and former Josef K frontman, Paul Haig. Although informed by such acts as The Velvet Underground, Stooges, Buzzcocks, Wire and Talking Heads, the songs written were swift  to adopt their own unique stamp and personality.

Recording sessions ensued when ex-Bluebells/TV21 bassist Neil Baldwin plus drummer/percussionist David Mack completed the line-up.The group released a one off double 'A' sided single entitled "Whats It All About?"/"Mind" in late 2006 on Pronoia Records. It received extensive radio play and was hailed Single Of The Year by Radio Clyde DJ Billy Sloan in his round up of 2006.
Following the release of that first single, Paul Haig quit the project to continue with his recently rejuvenated solo career. Taking his place on lead guitar and backing vocals is former Scars/Mike Scott accomplice Steve Fraser.
A second one-off single, "Slipping Away", was released to great critical acclaim in April 2009 on Re-Action Recordings.  The esteemed journalist Paul Lester proclaimed it single of the year (so far) in an enthusiastic piece in The Guardian.
2010 saw the band making it’s live debut with well received shows in Edinburgh and Glasgow. They have since been building up a live reputation with more gigs in and around Scotland, with further dates currently being lined up.
The Cathode Ray are currently completing their self-titled debut album which is finally due for release early in 2012 on Stereogram Recordings.
September 2011.
